Our Process
Our Process?! To even suggest that we have an established process gives us WAY too much credit! Indeed, as we’ve tried to make perfectly clear, we’re just a modest group of artists (and non-artists) very much learning as we go along. That said, the basic idea is that we will collaborate with interested urban youth that are currently participating in other after school organizations or schools (think of us as a supplementary creative tool in that regard for those other organizations).
And we will communicate with participating youth and artists alike via the collaborative Facebook Workplace tool, as supplemented by occasional conference calls or face-to-face workshops when time permits, which will be announced within the dedicated Facebook Workplace site.
The focus of these collaborations will be the production of comic issues for our ongoing Back of the Yards comic series, as well as related independent comic features and other content. And as we start each Back of the Yards comic issue, we will select a few topics as a basis for these collaborations.
To further help illustrate the general process (yes, quite literally), we’ve provided the infographic below for your reference.
Content developed through the general collaborative process described above will be produced in a variety of creative project platforms including blogs (supplemented with comic illustrations), short comics features (including traditional short comics scripts), and even incorporated into longer comics narrative story lines like our inaugural Back of the Yards comics series. And all such content will ultimately be published on this Website or other digital and print mediums (including printed issues of the Back of the Yards comics series).

So Let’s Collaborate!
So as you can see from above, if you are an administrator or staff member at an existing after school or other educational program, or an artist that would like to learn more about this project, just send us an email at info@madecollaborative.com with a summary of your interest and how can best reach you, and we will be in touch in short order. And thank you in advance for your interest and support!
A Special Call to Artists
Facilitating collaborations among many participants is at the heart of Made Collaborative’s mission, and that includes artists especially. We want to incorporate as many different styles and perspectives as we can over time, to compliment the varied contributions from participating youth and other collaborators. So if you are an illustrator or writer, and are interested in perhaps participating on future collaborations (and earn a little supplemental income for your services), just give us a shout at info@madecollaborative.com and we will get that conversation started!
UPDATE: IN LIGHT OF THE CURRENT COVID-19 PANDEMIC, THERE WILL NOT BE ANY FACE-TO-FACE WORKSHOPS CONDUCTED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. ALL CURRENT COLLABORATIONS WILL BE FACILITATED REMOTELY VIA THE FACEBOOK WORKPLACE SITE, AND SUPPLEMENTED AS NEEDED BY VIDEO CONFERENCE CALLS.
